Getaway to Italy

Located close to the Italian border, Isola 2000 is a quick day trip to Italy.

You’ll find pretty villages in bloom, imposing forts, incredible food and beautiful views of mountains and fields.

Here are a few places we recommend you visit.

1 – The Sanctuary of St. Anne of Vinadio

From Isola 2000, you can discover the sanctuary of Sainte-Anne de Vinadio.

Considered the highest sanctuary in Europe, it is situated at an altitude of 2035 metres.

Several miracles have been attributed to Saint Anne of Vinadio. Her most important miracle occurred in 1755, when an avalanche buried the village of Bergemoret. It is said that 37 days later, three women were saved and survived by feeding on the milk of the goats buried with them.

Inside, photographs and drawings of accidents are hung to testify to other miracles.

You can also go to Vinadio, a town in the Stura Valley.

It has many points of interest.

Its main village, called Vinadio, preserves many testimonies of the medieval alpine architecture. These testimonies come from the rural buildings leaning against each other punctuated by stone arches and narrow and dark alleys.

In addition, the village has a strong military heritage, the most important of which is the Fort Albertino de Vinadio. It is part of an important defence complex that served to protect the entire valley.
